The Beaumont Business Association (BBA) would like to thank everyone for a successful Festival of Lights on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.  This annual event helped to promote the season and create an atmosphere for people to come out and enjoy a festive evening in Beaumont Village.  The event included Santa arriving by our local PDX fire engine at 5:00pm.  He rode down Fremont Street from 52nd to 42nd with lights and sirens blaring to announce his arrival and then was delivered to Santa’s Village (at The Arrangement).  Upon arrival he and Mrs. Claus were escorted to his “throne” where kids of all ages could visit and have photos taken with Santa (and get a special treat from Whole Foods).  New in 2012 was the ability to sign up for a 30-mintue window of time for your photo with Santa.  This allowed you to take part in the Shop Hop and visit our villages without standing in the cold.  Along with Santa’s Village, there were various villages that hosted special themes like A Celtic Christmas (at Foot Traffic), a Children’s Craft Village (at Umpqua Bank…where children can come and spend time making a holiday ornament to take home with them), a Hip Hop village (at PaperJam Press) and a Shopping Village (at Grand Central Baking).  Along with these wonderful villages, we continued our annual Shop Hop. All shops were open late, inviting shoppers to take advantage of some great holiday specials.  Also new in 2012 was the chance to visit our Shop Hop merchants all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday….allowing you two chances to enter a drawing by visiting five or ten merchants.  Shops handed out goodies, like hot cocoa and treats to entice customers to visit them as they stayed open late.  For more information on next year’s event, call the Beaumont Business Association today at 503 898-0697 or info@businessonfremont.com.
